Lonavala Weekend Trip Guide — Complete 2025 Itinerary
Lonavala is Maharashtra's most popular hill station — and for good reason. Lonavala Attractions
Tiger's Leap (Tiger Point)
The most famous viewpoint in Lonavala. A rocky outcrop jutting over a deep valley — in monsoon it's often hidden in clouds. On clear days the view is extraordinary. 6km from Lonavala market.
Bhushi Dam
The dam overflow in monsoon has become one of Maharashtra's most visited attractions. Water cascades over stepped rocks — wade into it and get drenched. Extremely crowded on August weekends. Go on a weekday.
Lohagad Fort Trek
10km from Lonavala. A 1.5-hour trek (easy) to a beautifully preserved Maratha fort. The Vinchukata bastion curves into the valley dramatically. Combine with Visapur Fort on the same day.
Karla Caves
Ancient Buddhist caves from the 2nd century BCE. The main chaitya (prayer hall) has 37 carved pillars and is one of the best-preserved ancient Buddhist monuments in India. 12km from Lonavala.
Bhaja Caves
Smaller than Karla but more atmospheric — caves in a lush hillside with a 200-foot waterfall in monsoon. 10km from Lonavala.
Rajmachi Fort (30km from Lonavala)
Drive or trek to the twin forts of Shrivardhan and Manaranjan on a wide plateau. Popular for overnight camping from Lonavala base.
Duke's Nose (Sunset Point, Khandala)
Just 5km from Lonavala, Khandala offers the famous Duke's Nose rocky outcrop with views of the expressway and the valley. Best at sunset.
Lonavala Lake
A small artificial lake near the town. Serene in the morning. Pedal boats available.
