1. Peb Fort (Vikatgad) — 55km The closest decent fort trek to Mumbai. A 2-hour moderate climb through forest to the fort summit. Excellent Ulhas Valley views. Accessible from Neral station.
2. Matheran Forest Trails — 83km Multiple easy forest walks through Matheran's car-free environment. Charlotte Lake trail, Heart Point, Echo Point — all flat or gently undulating. Great for families.
3. Kalavantin Durg base hike — 55km The approach to Kalavantin is a scenic hike even without attempting the main pinnacle. Prabal Fort on the way is a solid easy trek.
4. Kondana Caves + Waterfall — 90km Not technically a fort trek — a 2km walk through forest and bamboo to Buddhist caves beside a waterfall near Karjat. Extremely scenic in monsoon.

5. Rajmachi Fort — 120km Drive or train to Lonavala, trek to the plateau with two fort summits. 2.5–3 hours up. Very popular weekend trek.
6. Lohagad Fort — 100km Easy-to-moderate. Beautiful fort walls and Vinchukata bastion. Accessible from Malavli station (Central Railway).
7. Tikona Fort — 120km Triangle-shaped hill with Pawna Lake views. 2-hour climb. Good for those wanting a scenic moderate challenge.
8. Sudhagad — 120km Less visited than most forts near Mumbai — peaceful, good views, interesting ruins.
9. Gorakhgad — 90km A photogenic cone-shaped hill with a cave temple. Moderately challenging summit section. Very few visitors — a rare quiet trek near Mumbai.
10. Prabalgad — 55km Directly above Panvel. Long approach but the summit fort has excellent sea-facing views including Murud-Janjira in clear conditions.
11. Andharban Forest Trail — 135km A descent through dense jungle — one of the most beautiful walks in Maharashtra. Start from Pimpri Dam near Tamhini.

12. Kalavantin Durg — 55km The narrow pinnacle with iron steps carved into the rock face. Vertigo-inducing in the best way. One of the most photographed treks near Mumbai.
13. Harishchandragad — 200km The ultimate challenge near Mumbai-Pune. Konkan Kada cliff. Two days minimum. Requires fitness and experience.
14. Kalsubai — 200km Maharashtra's highest peak. Iron ladders on the upper sections. Long day — start at 5 AM from Bari.
